Thorne joins Kidderminster
10:04am Thursday 2nd September 2010

FORMER Forest Green defender Olie Thorne has joined Kidderminster Harriers.
The 20-year old only joined from Forest Green Rovers in the summer from Newport County but has been unable to force his way into the County ranks so far this season.
Thorne had relocated to Newport as part of the move, but the SNJ understands he was allowed to return to his home nearer the midlands a fortnight ago due to specific family reasons.
When that move was ratified by boss Dean Holdsworth, the Exiles cancelled Thorne's contract and he signed non-contract terms with County, smoothing the way for his departure to Kidderminster Harriers.
Despite the abrupt departure, neither Holdsworth or Thorne harbour ill-feelings over the move.
"Ollie's had a really difficult time personally in recent weeks and so we changed the contract situation for him," Holdsworth said.
"I haven't got a bad word to say about Ollie and though we will be light on the bench defensively for the Wrexham game, hopefully once the window opens again we can bring in another defensive option, a player who can play in a few different positions.
"We wish Ollie all the best, it's just unfortunate things haven't worked out."
Kidderminster boss Steve Burr was thrilled with his new capture, believing County's fine start to the campaign meant Thorne was unlikely to get enough game time.
"Ollie has no gripes with Newport about not being involved because of how well they have started, but he is desperate to play football and was keen to come here.
"He is definitely someone who makes us stronger."
