STONEHOUSE Town Council is calling for signs to be installed in the High Street to reduce confusion over the rights of pedestrians in the shared space area.

At a meeting of the authority on Monday, February 20, councillors agreed to pursue the issue with Gloucestershire County Highways, who are responsible for road signage.

Last month a Highways representative told councillors that new signs would be fixed next to the A419 and the Ebley bypass to indicate the location of Stonehouse town centre.

However, town councillors are keen that new signs are also erected around the shared space to inform pedestrians of their right of way.

Members of the town council’s regeneration and environment committee will now consider the design and wording of the signs.
